“Arise . . . for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good; and are ye still? Be not slothful to go, and enter to possess the land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of anything that is in the earth.” (Judges 18:9, 10).

Nothing is ours unless we take it!

“The children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.” (Joshua 16:4).
“The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” (Obad 17).
“The upright shall have good things in possession.”

We need to have appropriating faith in regard to God’s promises.
We must make God’s Word our own personal possession!

A child was asked once what appropriating faith was.

And the answer was:
“It is taking a pencil and underscoring all the me’s and mine’s and my’s in the Bible.”

Take any word you please that He has spoken and say:
“That word is my word!”

Put your finger on this promise and say:
“It is mine!”

How much of the Word has been endorsed and receipted and said “It is done.”
How many promises can you subscribe and say, “Fulfilled to me.”

“Son, you are ever with Me, and all that I have is yours.”

Don’t let your inheritance go by default.

When faith goes to market it always takes a basket.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23.
Years ago, a power plant in a tiny village caught fire one evening, a local fire truck stood, unused, in perfectly working condition as the plant burnt to the ground.
Damage to the plant was great.
And why did this state of the art firetruck go unused?
So sad… simply nobody in the town knew how to operate it.

This is what I realized.
Amidst the everyday fires we face in our lives-
God has given us precious, perfectly good working, state of the art promises.
Unfortunately, it seems that-
– either we are ignorant of them
– or fail to know how to operate them!

D.L. Moody says that many of the promises God has given to His people, to us, “seem to be pretty pictures of an ideal peace and rest, but are not appropriated as practical helps in daily life. And not one of these promises is more neglected that the assurance of salvation. An open Bible places them within reach of all, and we may appropriate the blessing which such a knowledge brings.”

Are you burning to put God’s promises to work in your life today?
I know I am!
Let’s get into God’s Word-
– get to know the depth of His commitment to us,
– and put His wonderful promises to action!

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able…” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
There is a wonderful Bible story that describes a great God.
It’s the story of three Hebrew boys who refused to worship the idols of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar.
You can find it in the Bible in the book of Daniel Chapter 3.
Even though they were threatened with being thrown in a furnace, they held fast in their devotion to God.
Their response:
“God can spare us from the fiery furnace; He has that power.
But, even if He does not, we’ll never serve your gods or bow down to your statue.”
They chose to trust God even when it made no earthly sense to do so.
And God repaid that faith by seeing that they were not harmed by the fires in the furnace.
God will never take us through a time of testing that is too tough for us to deal with.
No matter how difficult your trials-
– you can bank on His promise!
No trial is too great for us with the power of God.
He will give us a way-
– to endure it,
– to resist it, or
– to get through it!
