For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:32-34).
To all who wish to be rid of anxiety-
I would make three simple suggestions:
First-
Stop seeking the trivial, transient things with which modern men and women glut themselves, and seek the Kingdom of God as it is revealed in Christ.
Let God’s life surge through your soul as you, by faith, put the whole weight of your burdens on Jesus Christ, who died for you.
Second-
Get your eyes off yourself.
Focus them upon God first, and then others.
Self-centeredness is a terrible breeder of anxiety.
Spend much time in prayer, and let a large portion of this time be spent in praying for others.
Third-
Commit yourself fully to Christ.
The truly happy Christian is the one who is fully and wholeheartedly committed to Christ.
Be that kind of follower of Christ!

Anxiety is the natural result-
– when our hopes are centered in anything short of God and His will for us.
When we make anything else our goal, frustration and defeat are inevitable.
Though we have less to worry about than previous generations, we have more worry.
Though we have it easier than our forefathers, we have more uneasiness.
Though we have less real cause for anxiety than our predecessors, we are inwardly more anxious.
Calloused hands were the badge of the pioneer-
– but a furrowed brow is the insignia of modern man.
God has never promised to remove all our troubles, problems, and difficulties.
In fact, sometimes I think the truly committed Christian is in conflict with the society around him more than any other person.
Society is going in one direction
.

And the Christian is going in the opposite direction.

This brings about friction and conflict.
But God has promised-
– in the midst of trouble and conflict, a genuine peace, a sense of assurance and security, that the worldly person never knows.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; For You are with me.” Psalm 23:4.

“Lord Jesus, teach me to keep my eyes centered on You rather than on myself and my anxieties. Help me to allow You to give me peace of heart and mind today.”

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7.
I have read how, in 1929, business tycoon J.C. Penney was in the hospital because of his severe anxiety.
One night he was sure he was going to die, so he wrote farewell letters to his wife and son.
But he survived the night, and hearing singing the next morning in the chapel, felt drawn to go in.
A group was singing, “God will take care of you,” after which followed Bible reading and prayer.
Penney said, “Suddenly something happened. I can’t explain it. It was a miracle. I felt as if I had been instantly lifted out of the darkness of a dungeon into warm brilliant sunlight. I felt as if I had been transported from hell to paradise. I felt the power of God as I had never felt it before.
“I realized then that I alone was responsible for all my troubles. I knew that God with his love was there to help me. From that day to this, my life has been free from worry. The most dramatic and glorious minutes of my life were those I spent in that chapel that morning.”
Most causes of anxiety and worry lie within ourselves.
At best they are triggered by outside circumstances.
Only when we admit to and resolve these causes-
– are we free to fully surrender our worries and anxieties to God and experience his peace.
Whether this peace comes instantly or over a period of time doesn’t matter.
The important truth to remember is that God is always there.
His love and power are constant and available to all.
As we reach out to Him through the fog of our worry and damaged emotions-
– we discover that He is waiting to help us if only we will be totally open and honest with Him, respond to His love, and give Him the chance to help us.
Every day, visualize Jesus being with you and opening yourself to receive His love, joy and peace.
The ultimate source of worry-free living is found-
– in learning to trust God fully for every detail and in every circumstance of our life.
“Dear God, again today I commit and trust my life and every circumstance in which I find myself to You. I choose to trust You regardless of my feelings, and please help my feelings to catch up with my choice to trust You. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus’s name, Amen.”

Calvary“Don’t worry at all then about tomorrow. Tomorrow can take care of itself! One day’s trouble is enough for one day.” Matthew 6:34.
It is very rarely the present moment that causes anxiety.
We might fret about the past-
– or more commonly, worry about the future.
Jesus warns us against it.
Amidst all his profound wisdom that can be sometimes hard to unlock-
– here is one very clear example of godly common sense.
The present is the only real situation we have to confront.
The future does not as yet exist.
When we worry about the future-
– we are essentially worrying about something that is not real.
One reason why worry about the future is so corrosive and so common is that we start creating imaginary futures.
We play the ‘what if’ game and see ourselves overcome by many and varied scenarios.
Most of these will not eventuate.
Jesus seems to be saying that even if they do, we will handle them as they come.
We cannot resolve the issue here and now-
– because the issue does not as yet exist and may never exist.
Of course we plan for the future and think about the future.
But if we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by anxiety-laden future possibilities then we are on a dead-end road!
We are wrestling with phantoms.
And as we do so-
– we risk missing out on what God is doing here and now in our lives.
We risk adding unnecessary burdens to our already challenging present day.
Pray to God that we do not let-
– the possibilities of tomorrow rob us of the certainties of today.

“Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place” (2 Corinthians 2:14).
As you fight the good fight of faith today-
Remember this:
Your mind is where the battle will take place.
Whatever you allow to captivate your mind will rule your life.
Will it be-
– the Word of God
– or the lies of Satan?
The decision is yours!
If you want the Word to reign-
– make up your mind now to resist the devil when he comes to plant doubts within you.
Refuse to surrender to the circumstantial pressure he brings your way.
Decide at the onset that you will not succumb to this trial.
Dig your heels in and stand immovable upon the promises of God.
When thoughts come that are contrary to God’s will-
– cast them down.
And above all-
– don’t worry!
Worrying is meditating the thoughts of Satan!
When you recognize you are worrying, stop it immediately.
Replace worried, fearful, and doubtful thoughts with the Word.
Be assured!
Satan will continually try to tell you that your situation is hopeless.
He will persistently peddle doubt, defeat, and discouragement.
But if you won’t allow him to sell you his goods.
His commission will be zero.
If you don’t buy his lies-
– he can’t cause them to come to pass in your life.
God has promised that He will always cause you to triumph in Christ.
You are guaranteed victory over any adversity you face today.
Make up your mind right now-
– to be a winner and you’ll spread the knowledge of victory in Christ everywhere you go.
