“The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11.
If God has promised to provide and is able-
– we might wonder why He doesn’t always meet our needs when we ask.

But since He is faithful to His Word-
– we can know that the problem is never with Him.

Notice that in today’s passage-
God’s promise to provide has a condition—it is given to “those who walk uprightly.” v. 11.

So if God isn’t meeting our needs as we think He should-
– either He may have a different plan,
– or something in our life may be a hindrance.

Sin!
One reason our prayers may not be answered is because there’s sin in our life and we are not living righteously.

If God ignored disobedience and granted our requests-
He would be affirming an unrighteous lifestyle.

Slothfulness!
Although the Lord is the ultimate source of all we have-
He has given us the responsibility of working in order to provide for our basic necessities. 2 Thess. 3:10-11.

If you’re a capable, able-bodied person who’s unwilling to work and wants something for nothing-
God won’t reinforce your laziness.

Selfishness!
It’s possible that the Lord hasn’t provided as you expected because your “needs” are really selfish desires.

If He sees that what you want won’t fulfill His plans for your life-
He may be saying “no” because He has a “yes” that’s even better.

To avoid disappointment with God-
– understand that His actions and character always align.

He won’t reward rebellion or laziness, and His answers to prayer fit with His goal of conforming us to Christ’s image.

So if He hasn’t provided what you deem essential-
He’s working to bestow a better blessing!

Have you thought lately about the faithfulness of God?

Too often we are prone to focus on our own faithfulness and our own faith. Our living a victorious Christian life indicates that we are trusting a faithful God who cannot fail, not that we are faithful to Him.

How should we respond to the faithfulness of God? Read Psalm 89:1-10.

First, sing of His faithfulness! “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations” (v 1). Are you praising God today for His faithfulness?

When you find yourself unfaithful to the Lord, consider His faithfulness. After all, “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Second, share about His faithfulness!! “With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.” In giving our testimonies, we sometimes brag about ourselves.

I was in a meeting once where the leader said, “Let’s give praise to the Lord, and let’s be careful not to give praise to ourselves.” The psalmist said, “I’m going to share the faithfulness of God –
– not what I have done, but what He has done; not what I am, but what He is.”

Third, submit to His faithfulness!!! “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those who are around Him” (v 7).

Our God is faithful. Can we trust Him today? Yes, we can. Is His Word going to fail? No, not one word of all His promises has failed.

Is His grace going to run out? No, He has vast riches of His grace. God is faithful in everything.

Have you learned to respond to God’s faithfulness? Praise Him for His faithfulness, share it with others and submit to it. He can be trusted.

Great is Thy Faithfulness!

Nothing is ours unless we take it!

“The children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.” (Joshua 16:4).
“The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” (Obad 17).
“The upright shall have good things in possession.”

We need to have appropriating faith in regard to God’s promises.
We must make God’s Word our own personal possession!

A child was asked once what appropriating faith was.

And the answer was:
“It is taking a pencil and underscoring all the me’s and mine’s and my’s in the Bible.”

Take any word you please that He has spoken and say:
“That word is my word!”

Put your finger on this promise and say:
“It is mine!”

How much of the Word has been endorsed and receipted and said “It is done.”
How many promises can you subscribe and say, “Fulfilled to me.”

“Son, you are ever with Me, and all that I have is yours.”

Don’t let your inheritance go by default.

When faith goes to market it always takes a basket.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Sometimes we should take a closer look at our scriptures.
For instance, the Bible doesn’t say that money is the root of all evil; it says the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil.
Jonah was swallowed by a big fish; it never says a whale.
And Eve ate the forbidden fruit; it never says an apple.
Likewise-
God does not guarantee that all things work together for good.
Do you think for people in hell things have worked out for their good?
He declares that all things work together for good “for those that love God and are called according to His purpose.”
This is a significantly different meaning!
In other words-
Things most certainly work out good for you if – and this is a big if – you are a follower of Christ, willing to trust in His plan, willing to trust in His will, and to seek to fulfill His will.
Under those conditions-
– all things do work together for good!
No matter what kind of setback you face,
-no matter what kind of rejection by man,
-no matter what kind of suffering you have in this life,
-no matter what kind of disappointment and hurt you endure-
God can bring good out of any situation, even out of any evil of our own or that is thrust upon us.
If you choose to trust God-
He can bring good out of the darkest, most dismal situation.
Why don’t you start looking for the good that God wants to bring?

When you feel deserted-
– alone in standing for what’s right, read Psalm 12.
The emphasis in this psalm is on words, on speaking.
First,
David speaks in prayer.Vs.1-3.
Where are the godly?
People today don’t want to take a stand for the truth.
But David stood for what is right.
Sometimes we feel the faithful have disappeared–those who believe in prayer, giving and commitment.
Today’s generation doesn’t believe in commitment, especially with our words.
We hear so much empty talk, lies and flattery.
Flattery is manipulative, not communicative, like our advertising and some of our preaching.
Second,
The wicked speak in pride.v. 4.
Never underestimate the power of speech.
Jesus told the truth; His enemies argued.
He gave words of life; they rejected Him.
He came in love; they crucified Him.
One of the evidences that a person is giving the truth of God’s Word is that he is rejected.
People don’t want to hear truth unless they belong to truth.John 10:4.
Third,
God speaks in promise.Vs. 5,7.
His words are pure, not empty lying.v. 6.
But the words of the wicked will burn in the furnace.
God’s Word is precious, because it cost Jesus’ life.
It is proved.v. 6.
And permanent.v. 7.
He keeps His promises.
God knows where His people are, and He helps them.
“I will arise”; “I will protect”; “I can be trusted”.Vs.5-7.
So much that is spoken in this world is untrue and empty talk.
Be encouraged that God speaks in promise.
His Word is pure and true.
When you are surrounded by lies-
Rest on the promises of the Bible.

“If the sun is shining in the morning, I’ll do it.”
“If he’s there when I open the door, I’ll know he’s the one.”
“If I pass the class on world missions, I’ll be a missionary. If not, I’ll be a local pastor.”
We all know better than this, but it’s amazing how often scenarios just like these pop into our minds.
Such propositions are referred to as “laying a fleece” before the Lord or “seeking a sign.”
The term fleece comes from the account of Gideon.
In Judges 6, Gideon is called by God to deliver Israel from the Midianites.
Gideon questions whether God is even for Israel (verse 13), and he doubts his own ability (verse 15). So he asks God for a sign (verse 17).
God gives him one, then tells him to tear down the altar of Baal.
Gideon is afraid to go during the day, so he goes at night.
Then he questions again whether God will deliver Israel.
This time he puts a lamb’s fleece on the ground.
If God will deliver Israel, then the lamb’s fleece will be wet in the morning and the ground around it will be dry.
The next morning it is so.
That ought to satisfy him, right?
Wrong!
Wanting to be sure, and hoping that God won’t get too mad, Gideon asks Him to do it again, but this time with the opposite result (i.e., the fleece dry and the ground wet).
Not exactly the stuff heroes are made of.
But God answers Gideon’s request and then He reduces Gideon’s army down to 300 men!
The whole point of the passage is that God, not man, is the deliverer.
God chose a man desperately seeking assurance and reduced an army down to nothing so that the victory would clearly be His.
The fleece wasn’t a means of demonstrating faith; it was just the opposite.
And it certainly wasn’t used to determine God’s will.
God had already told Gideon what to do.
Gideon was questioning the integrity of God-
– just as we do if we ask for a fleece when God has already shown us His will.
“An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign.” Matthew 12:39.
As God’s people-
– let’s seek the face of God.
“Lord, forgive me for the times I have looked for sign instead of seeking Your face. I commit myself today to walk only in the faith revealed in Your Word.”

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able…” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
There is a wonderful Bible story that describes a great God.
It’s the story of three Hebrew boys who refused to worship the idols of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar.
You can find it in the Bible in the book of Daniel Chapter 3.
Even though they were threatened with being thrown in a furnace, they held fast in their devotion to God.
Their response:
“God can spare us from the fiery furnace; He has that power.
But, even if He does not, we’ll never serve your gods or bow down to your statue.”
They chose to trust God even when it made no earthly sense to do so.
And God repaid that faith by seeing that they were not harmed by the fires in the furnace.
God will never take us through a time of testing that is too tough for us to deal with.
No matter how difficult your trials-
– you can bank on His promise!
No trial is too great for us with the power of God.
He will give us a way-
– to endure it,
– to resist it, or
– to get through it!
