“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:31).

When bewilderment enshrouds you,
– and despair looms at your door,
– when trials storm the beaches of your life-
– you may want to ask God:

“Why?”
You may never understand why things are happening the way they are in your life.

But that’s not your job.
It is not necessary for you to know why.
That is God’s question!

Your response is all that matters.
When we can’t feel His hand-
We must trust His heart!

Our job is-
– to simply trust and obey!

Is there something happening in your life-
– for which you have no explanation?

But longing for answers?

Ask God to give you peace and grace to trust Him!
He is working out the details of your deliverance!!

Job asked God why many times when he went through suffering. But God did not answer his questions but asked him many questions.

David asked Him why!
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?” Psalm 22:1.
But no answer!!

Jesus, the Son of David asked the same question to God His Father.
“From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”
– which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matt.27:45, 46.
The Father God gave no answer!!!
He just trusted His Father and committed His life into His hands.

When we are faced with confused situations-
– our question should not be why but what.

Do not ask God-
“Why did You allow this to happen?”

But ask God-
“What do You want me to learn through this?”

That’s what Saul on the road to Damascus asked Jesus whom he was persecuting.
When Saul was out of God’s will-
-he had a fall and he became blind and humbled.

He asked Jesus:
“Lord, what do You want me to do?” Acts 9:6.

May God reveal His will to you-
-that you may please Him to bless you!

The next time you feel at rock bottom, read Psalm 130. “Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord” (v1). Three basic requests in this psalm echo the concerns in our hearts today.

First, the psalmist asks God to hear him. “Lord, hear my voice!” (v 2).

Why? “I can’t swim; I am in the deep waters, and they are coming over my head. I am drowning, and I’m afraid I can’t make it.” No matter how far down you may go or feel, God always hears you.

Then he asks God to hold him. “If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared” (v 3, 4). We can’t stand before God in the courtroom of His justice; we are helpless.

Only Jesus Christ can stand there, because only He is perfect. But He stands with us, He’s our Savior. God not only hears us when we are down, but He holds us. He says, “I forgive you. You’ve trusted my Son; you’ve confessed your sin; and now you can stand before Me.”

The psalmist expresses his confidence in this truth: “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning” (v 5, 6).

Next he asks God to help him. “O Israel, hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption” (v 7). We are sometimes like soldiers in the watchtower, waiting for the light. We can’t see, but God can see, and there is a future hope for His people.

Place your confidence in the promises of God’s Word. No matter how down you may feel – God hears you, holds you and helps you! Turn to Him; He’ll see you through.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! (Ps 139:17)

Consider the character of God’s thoughts in Psalm 139.
God’s thoughts are personal!
“….Your thoughts to me, O God!”

They concern you and me. He makes the individual and then plans for him. He knows all about us. God put your substance together and ordained your genetic structure (v 13,14). We must use what He has given us for His glory. And our obedience to His will reaches beyond this life, for our future is wrapped up in God’s plan for us (Jer 29:11).

God’s thoughts are precious!!
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!”
Precious means “weighty, valuable.” His thoughts toward us are unique, tailor-made, and that makes them valuable.

When we accept God’s plan for us and exercise believing faith, then He can work out His perfect will in our lives. Remember, His thoughts are deep (Ps 92:5); they are higher than ours (Isa 55:8).

God’s thoughts are plenteous!!!
How great is the “sum of them.”

The Hebrew word for sum is plural. Thus, His thoughts just keep growing. People who don’t want to do the will of God live their lives in a little bucket of water. But when we accept His will for our lives, we launch out on an ocean of possibility. God said to Abraham, “You walk before Me and do My will, and I am going to give you horizons like you’ve never seen before” (Gen 15:5).

God’s thoughts about you are more than mere “thoughts.”
They include His purposes and His care. As you meditate on His thoughts, renew your commitment to know and do His will for your life!

God is thinking about you!

“The devil …is a liar” (John 8:44).

That archenemy, the devil, is a liar from the beginning; but he is so very plausible that, like Eve, we are led to believe him. Yet in our experience we shall prove him a liar.

He says that we shall fall from grace, dishonor our profession, and perish with the doom of apostates; but, trusting in the Lord Jesus, we shall hold on our way and prove that Jesus loses none whom His Father gave Him.

He tells us that our bread will fail, and we shall starve with our children; yet the Feeder of the ravens has not forgotten us yet, and He will never do so, but will prepare us a table in the presence of our enemies.

He whispers that the Lord will not deliver us out of the trial which is looming in the distance, and he threatens that the last ounce will break the camel’s back. For the Lord will never leave us or forsake us. “Let him deliver him now!” cries the false fiend: but the Lord will silence him by coming to our rescue.

He threatens that your foes will torment you bringing lots of trials before you to tarnish your image and trouble your life.

But “happy are you…who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places” (Deut 33:29).

He takes great delight in telling us that death will prove too much for us. “How will you do in the swelling of Jordan?”

But there also he shall prove a liar unto us, and we shall pass through the river singing psalms of glory.
What a liar the devil is!
