One to Job

One to Job

Calvary
“Though He slay me, I will hope in Him” (Job 13:15).
How deep does your loyalty to God go?
Is there a pretty clear line in the sand that you won’t go beyond?
Would you stay faithful to him no matter-
– what happened to you or
– what he asked of you?
Of all the heroes in the Bible-
Job stands out as a model of faithfulness in the midst of adversity.
We all experience tragedy of some kind in our lifetime-
– but not like Job!
Everything happened to Job!
Though he was a loving father, his children were killed.
Though he was a generous man, he lost all of his possessions.
Though he was a loyal friend, his companions all turned on him.
Though he was a hard worker, he lost his health.
But Job didn’t curse God.
He didn’t even get angry or blame God for his predicament.
Instead, he became so famous for his perseverance that to this day-
– even non-Christians speak of “the patience of Job.”
On a scale of “one to Job,” how deep is your loyalty?
If it’s on the shallow end, don’t be discouraged.
Take it as a sign that you don’t yet know God as you should.
The only reason Job could trust God the way he did was because he knew him so well.
So keep getting to know God better-
– and ask him to help you trust him,
– regardless of your circumstances.
