Gratitude to God

Gratitude to God

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Hebrews 9:12”.

A young Christian who had recently been baptized participated with quiet awe in the church’s Lord’s Supper service for the very first time.

As he sat reverently with the wafer in hand, he paid close attention to what his pastor said about the bread.

Then he took one of the small cups as the tray came his way.
He held it with delicate care and listened as his pastor talked about the blood of Christ that had been shed for him.

Soon he found himself weeping.

As he reflected on the kind of person he had been and the new person he was now in the process of becoming, the tears streamed down his face.

In that moment of intimate worship, he breathed a prayer of gratitude for the blood of Jesus that had made him white as snow.

Because Jesus’ blood saved us too, we share this young man’s gratitude to God.

Unlike the Hebrews, we don’t need the blood of goats and calves to wash away our sins.

Our redemption lasts for eternity.

“Father, thank You for allowing the blood of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ, to be shed for me.”
