Count It All Joy

Count It All Joy

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials (James 1:2).

When we encounter pressure, adversity, problems, or pain, we react in a negative way.  We are not happy things turn out this way.

We become confused and ask God why He allows such things to happen to us.

But if we consider that such trials help to develop our Christian character, we will face them with joy.

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:3-4).

What do you value?  Your spiritual maturity or comfort?  The eternal or the temporal?

Our value system determines how we respond to trials.

When we endure trials with patience, there is promise of eternal reward.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).

See beyond the trial.  Look up to the Father.  He is bigger than any trial we face.

Trials have a sanctifying effect on us.  They humble us.  They bring us closer to Him.

God is sovereign over all circumstances.  He will use that affliction to produce a good outcome for us.  He is a just, gracious, wise Father in training (or disciplining) us.

So submit yourself to Him and His will.

Count it all joy when you face trials.  We can experience God’s joy in the midst of trials.
