Where Does Joy Come From?

Where Does Joy Come From?

The joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh 8:10).

People see God as a strict disciplinarian warning us of the “Thou shall nots” and restricting our freedom.  He is thought of as a traffic policeman, hiding, and catching traffic offenders.

It seems hard to imagine Him as a joyful God.

Yet our God is blessed and joyful (Eph 1:3; 1 Thess 1:6).

Joy belongs to God.  He is the Source of joy.

There is fullness of joy in His presence (Ps 16:11).

There is joy in heaven (Luke 15:7, 10).

Jesus gave His joy to His disciples (John 15:11).

Jesus spoke of the joy of the Master (Matt 25:21).

True joy comes from God.  He wants to give you the fullness of joy.

Stop feeling down or depressed.  Stop searching elsewhere for joy or happiness.

Don’t deprive yourself of this privilege of having God’s joy in you.

True and lasting joy comes from Him.

Look to Him.  Ask of Him and you will receive His joy.

We have every reason to rejoice in Him.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Phil 4:4).

“Lord, I have lost my joy.  Restore Your joy in me.  Fill me with Your joy.”
