Amazing Love!
“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” Romans 5:8.
I love surprises!
It’s great to receive a gift on my birthday or at Christmas, but that’s usually expected.
I experience a greater joy when someone gives me an unexpected gift or recognizes me in a special way on just a usual day.
The gift is meaningful because it’s not merited by the occasion or anything I’ve done.
Such a gift is simply a gesture of love and appreciation.
It may be as simple as a lunch invitation.
God did something for us we didn’t deserve as a demonstration of His love.
He showed His love in giving His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins.
Sin is simply our self-centered life that falls short of God’s righteousness.
We are helpless to do anything about our sin nature.
We deserve separation from a Holy God, but He loves us anyway.
We would go out of our way to help meet a need of a family member or someone we love.
It’s unlikely we would do the same for someone we don’t know and especially someone who has treated us harshly.
But that’s what God did to demonstrate His amazing love!
