Christ’s Resurrection and Ours

Christ’s Resurrection and Ours

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

The resurrection of Christ is the most important doctrine of the Bible.  During His earthly ministry, Jesus predicted His own death and resurrection.  If He did not do what He said He would do, we can’t believe anything that He said.

But Jesus did what He promised He would do – rise from the dead after three days.

Some say His resurrection is a myth.  But there is no denial of the fact that His tomb is empty.  His body has never been found.

By coming back from the dead, Jesus triumphed over death.

The grave could not conceal Him.  Death could not keep Him dead.

O Death, where is your sting?  O grave, where is your victory? (1 Cor 15:55).

Jesus guarantees that if we believe in Him, our future resurrection will be like His.  When we die, we will also rise from the dead.

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (1 Corinthians 15:20).

We can be so sure because He proved it for us.  So by looking at Jesus’ resurrection, we are looking at our own resurrection.  And we have this sure hope that we will rise again like Him.

As Christians, we no longer have to fear death.

Furthermore, our loved ones will also be resurrected with us.  We will be reunited with them and be with the Lord forever.
